PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTING READING PROGRAMS

Reading 771

This course is for those desiring reading specialist licenses. It includes a practicum experience and focuses on developing reading programs at a system's level of the school/school district and the level of individual students with attention to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. Areas of focus include processes/procedures for planning, implementing, and evaluating reading programs for district, school, developmental levels, and students. Included are roles/responsibilities of reading specialists in collaborating for creation and implementation of reading programs; formation of literacy teams; selection of instructional materials and technology; and planning/leading professional development.
