CRIME IN DIGITAL MEDIA
|
|
This senior seminar is designed to guide students through the process of conducting original sociological research in teams. Our focus will be on how crime is represented and constructed in digital media spaces such as TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, X, and True Social. Students will work in teams to collect, code, analyze, and interpret social media content related to issues like policing, victimization, terrorism, school shootings, serial killers, domestic violence, and white-collar crime. Through weekly “Crime Media Lab” contributions, critical reflections, and team-based projects, students will gain hands-on experience in content analysis.
