The African Environment

This course applies geographic frameworks of place, space and scale to examine Africa’s diverse states and communities. It explores the continent’s contemporary challenges and resilience within historical and contemporary global contexts. Students will engage critically with common misconceptions and stereotypes about Africa, while developing nuanced perspectives on the continent. The course will examine sustainability issues, natural resource utilization, and alternative development pathways for the future of Africa.
