INTRODUCTION TO LATINX STUDIES
LATINX 201
Introduction to the study of Latinx peoples and communities in the United States and to the interdisciplinary field of Latinx Studies. This class critically analyzes the diversity of Latinx histories, identities, communities, and experiences by reviewing recent scholarly literature and other culturally relevant materials. We will explore concepts, theories, and social issues at the core of Latinx Studies.
LATINA/LATIN AMERICAN WOMEN'S WRITING, ACTIVISM & CHANGE
LATINX 407
This course analyses writing by Latinas and Latin American women (XIX century-present), as well as the theories that frame their writing. Exposed to various themes and writing styles, students will engage in textual analysis and critical discussion to reflect on the author's cultural and historical challenges as they engage in social change from their gendered and/or racialized critical identities.
