US GERMAN IMMIGRANT CULTURE
|
This course, taught in English, is designed to give the student an introductory overview of German-American culture and the contributions of German immigrants to American society from the seventeenth century to the present. We will discuss and analyze the major German influences on greater American life and customs and the representative movers and shakers who shaped the evolution of German immigrant culture on these shores, based on imparted background information, interactive class discussions, independent research projects and presentations, and an informed viewing of various multimedia source materials.
