PEDAGOGY AND PRACTICE OF MATHEMATICAL MODELING FOR STEAM TEACHING

Curriculum & Instruction Gen 400

The student will be engaged in authentic interdisciplinary real world mathematical modeling problems in STEAM contexts, and develop foundations of models and modeling perspectives as a way to integrate traditionally isolated subjects across the STEAM disciplines in K-12 education. with a special focus on grades 4-9. The student will become acquainted with the best teaching practices for supporting mathematical modeling in K-12 classrooms; and will be taught to design and facilitate mathematical modeling lessons, and devise assessment and feedback techniques for student-developed models and modeling processes.
