INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGY
Intro to the basic concepts, theories & methods of Soc., emphasizing the significance of the self & culture, social process & organization, & forces of social stability & change
SOCIOLOGY OF RACE & ETHNICITY
The experience of American racial, religious, ethnic & nationality groups. The nature of intergroup relations in the U.S.. Relationship of intergroup dynamics to social change, & to basic ideological, technological, & institutional structures & processes. Emphasis on social conflict over the distribution of economic & political power, family patterns, housing, education & access to the legal system.
SOCIOLOGY OF THE ENVIRONMENT
Explores the socio-cultural foundations of our relationship with the natural Env.. Examines the relationship between Env.al degradation & social, political, & economic structures. Explores beliefs & values about the Env. & their expression in various forms of Env.alism & Env.al movements. Also analyzes the presentation of Env.al issues in cultural, political, & scientific domains.
