ART 101

Principles of creative & structural drawing; a foundation course that explores a variety of ideas, techniques, & materials with a perceptual focus; drawing as a fine art & a basis for structure. An investigation of methods & materials. Lecture-lab.

INTERMEDIATE DRAWING

ART 102

Principles of creative & structural drawing; a second Sem. foundation course that explores a variety of ideas, techniques, & materials with a perceptual focus; drawing as a fine art & a basis for structure. Studio work in drawing with a variety of materials, techniques, & ideas. An investigation of methods, materials, & mixed media possibilities. An Intro to figure drawing. The class is conceptually based with an involvement & emphasis on structure, ideas & process. Lecture-lab.

Advanced drawing problems of expression & form. Emphasis on both skill & creative expression. Lecture-lab.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL DESIGN

ART 112

Investigation of the basic elements & principles of three-dimensional design in the use of volume & spatial arrangement. Lecture-lab.

WORLDS OF ART IMAGES/OBJECTS/IDEAS

ART 175

An Intro to the visual arts, intended for the non-art major, which emphasizes cross-cultural perspectives - specifically the impact race & ethnicity have on artistic production, art criticism, art philosophies & aesthetics among the four major ethnic groups in the U.S. - African American, Native American, Asian American, & Hispanic/Latino American. Field trips may be required.

THREE-DIMENSIONAL DESIGN II

ART 212

A continuation of the three-dimensional course of study. The course is comprised of three-dimensional visual experiences & the application of design principles to space, form & materials. Within the course, students receive instruction in the proper & safe use of simple h& tools & power equipment.
