Intensive study of a focused theme or topic in African, Asian, Middle Eastern, or Latin American history close to the research interests of the faculty member. The course includes a 12 to 15-page research paper that serves as one of the artifacts for the senior history portfolio course. This is a variable topics course.

Other Requirements: PREREQ: HISTRY 200, 6 CREDITS OF 300 OR 400 LEVEL HISTORY, OR CONSENT OF INSTRUCTOR

HY0212HY0212 AFRICAN INDEPENDENCE MOVEMENTS
This course is a rotating topics course that fulfills the senior seminar requirement for the 'non-western' category which includes courses primarily focused on Africa, Asian, Latin America, and the Middle-East. African Independence examines the ideologies and resistance movements that led to the end of European colonization and independent African states between 1935 and 1965. As a required course for history major's capstone requirement the course includes a major research paper.
