This course is designed to help facilitate a positive adjustment to the first year of college through the development of both written and oral communication skills, critical thinking skills, and group presentation skills. Students will: explore the purposes of higher education and its potential outcomes; develop skills of social interaction, self-awareness, and personal development through team projects and class presentations, attendance at university events, and programs promoting an appreciation of diversity; review the university's resources, policies, and procedures; investigate personal interests and strengths while setting academic and personal goals; and learn effective skills to help them cope with the world around them.
SERVICE LEARNING & LEADERSHIP

This course is designed for learning community students, as an opportunity to maintain contact with instructors from linked fall/spring courses, engage in service in the surrounding community and receive training in leadership. This course will directly focus on the Liberal Education America's Promise (LEAP) Essential Learning Outcome (ELO) of Personal and Social Responsibility.
CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING PORTFOLIO COURSE
INTRAUNV 300
The Credit for Prior Learning Portfolio Course offers adult students and veterans the opportunity to demonstrate, through portfolio, college-level learning they have already done but not earned credit for. Students who build successful portfolios can earn credit for up to three courses offered at UW-W.

Students will participate in an onsite intership in health care (UW-Hospital, Waukesha Hospital, or other hospital/clinic ssetting), hospitality industry (Kalahari) or animal care/entertainment (Milwaukee Zoo) and industry (Sentry Insurance, Walmart Distribution Center, etc.). Students will complete 3 different rotations across two semesters Fall and Spring
