TEACHING MATHEMATICS IN THE ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE GRADES

Elementary/Middle 425
The student will be instructed in how to assist the elementary/middle pupil in his understanding of mathematics, will become acquainted with different pedagogical techniques to be used in the contemporary mathematics classroom and will be taught to devise evaluation techniques to measure their effectiveness.
Other Requirements: PREREQ: SATISFACTORY COMPLETION OF MATH 149 WITH A GRADE OF C OR BETTER OR BSE SPECIAL EDUCATION MAJOR

Classes will meet during scheduled times from Tuesday, September 6, through Thursday, October 13. Class will break for field study from Monday, October 17 through Friday, December 2, 2011. Classes will resume at their normally scheduled times on Monday, December 5. A required course fee of $45.00 will be charged to students who did not receive a math manipulative kit in Math 148 or MATH 149.
