TEACHING MATHEMATICS IN THE ELEMENTARY/MIDDLE GRADES

Elementary/Middle 425
The student will be instructed in how to assist the elementary/middle pupil in his understanding of mathematics, will become acquainted with different pedagogical techniques to be used in the contemporary mathematics classroom and will be taught to devise evaluation techniques to measure their effectiveness.

A required course fee of $60.00 will be charged to students who did not receive a math manipulative kit in MATH 148 or MATH 149. ELEMMID 425 methods block courses will meet from Tuesday, January 17 until Thursday, February 23, and from Tuesday, April 25 until Thursday, May 4. All sections will be in Field Study from Monday, February 27 until Friday, April 21. Students should not schedule classes from 7:30 am ' 12:30 pm M-F to allow for Field Study.
