The art of the Middle Ages comprises more than 1,000 years of sculpture, painting, tapestry, architecture and stained glass. In this course of a few months, we can sample only some of the arts that have profoundly shaped modern western culture, vis. medieval great church or cathedral. Concentration is on the Romanesque and Gothic periods. Islamic material may be include. Generally offered spring term even numbered years.
