APPLYING RESEARCH-BASED STRATEGIES FOR DIFFERENTIATION
CIBME 700
Disciplinary literacy offers secondary teachers an understanding of language and the literacy process as it applies to teaching in secondary schools. The course emphasizes reading and writing in content areas and instructional strategies to support students' literacy development. It focuses on ways reading, writing, speaking, and listening are developed and used in learning discipline-specific curriculum, including adaptations for culturally diverse and exceptional learners.
CAPSTONE CLINICAL EXPERIENCES
CIBME 727
In conjunction with CIFLD 762 Clinical Experience (6 credits) placement, this course provides opportunities for students to develop skills in analyzing, describing, and evaluating their teaching performance. Through individual observation and writing, informal data gathering, and representation, students will apply principles derived from theory and research to their field experience. Reflection on teaching in light of the Wisconsin Teaching Standard will promote continuous growth and improvement in the ability of our teacher candidates to support diverse learners in their acquisition of knowledge.
METHODS OF TEACHING
CIBME 750
This course examines the methods of teaching learners using research-based strategies. Students will be introduced to theory-based principles and techniques of teaching various learners including middle, high school, and post secondary levels. Emphasis is placed on lesson planning, classroom instruction, and proficiency assessment.
FOUNDATIONS OF LEARNER-CENTERED CTE INSTRUCTION

This course focuses on evidence-based pedagogy (some unique to career & technical education) and allows future teachers to develop knowledge of culture and backgrounds of students in order to establish a positive career & technical education classroom capable of supporting all students to succeed academically, grow socially, and be college & career ready.
