English as a Second Language 403

ESL methods and curriculum will provide students with the background to develop or select appropriate curricula and to design materials which enhance language learning. The approach to curricular design and materials development is one that is learner centered. This course includes a field experience in the schools in addition to regularly scheduled class meetings.

Other Requirements: PREREQ: CIGENRL 350/ESL 350, CIGENRL 310/ESL 310 AND CIGENRL 320/ESL 320 OR CONSENT OF INSTRUCTOR

OFF CAMPUS
This 4-unit course includes a 20-hour field experience in the schools for two hours a week over 10 weeks. Please reserve time in your schedule during the school day (8:00 am ' 3:00 pm) for this field experience. Because of Friday meetings/professional development in the schools, preferred field experience times are Monday-Thursday in the morning or afternoon.
