FUNDAMENTALS OF COLLEGE ALGEBRA

Mathematics 141

A functional approach to algebra with emphasis on applications to different disciplines. Topics include linear, exponential, logarithmic, quadratic, polynomial and rational equations and functions, systems of linear equations, linear inequalities, radicals and rational exponents, complex numbers, variation. Properties of exponents, factoring, and solving linear equations are reviewed.

Other Requirements: PREREQ: MATH 41 WITH A GRADE OF C OR BETTER OR WAIVER

This is a hybrid course which meets both in the classroom and online each week. Students are required to purchase an access code for an online homework system that will provide immediate feedback and additional support. Codes can be purchased from the University Bookstore.

This course will be taught using Desire2Learn. Shortly before the start of the semester, information will be sent to each student's UWW email address. An additional required fee of $200 will be assessed for this class. Exams are to be taken in a proctored environment. Students who cannot come to campus are responsible for finding a proctor and obtaining the instructor's approval. Students are required to purchase an access code for an online homework system that will provide immediate feedback and additional support. Codes can be purchased from the University Bookstore.
