A course designed to provide experience in the use of informal assessment to plan, implement, evaluate and revise instruction to meet the needs and interests of the struggling reader in the K-12 classroom setting. Meeting the literacy needs of children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds is emphasized A practicum component is integrated into the course.

Will meet on the following dates; January 22, January 29, February 5, February 12, February 19, March 5, March 12, April 2 and April 30. In addition to 45 hours of coursework, there is an additional requirement of 30 hours of practicum to be completed in the student's own classroom or at Lincoln Elementary School (if the student is not currently employed in a school setting).
