Mathematics 148

A study of sets, whole numbers, fractions, integers, decimals and real numbers, basic arithmetic operations and their properties, standard and alternative algorithms and estimations strategies; problem-solving, proportional reasoning and algebraic thinking. Manipulatives and cooperative learning activities are used throughout the course. For elementary education majors.

Other Requirements: PREREQ: MATH 139 WITH A GRADE OF C OR BETTER, OR MATH 141 WITH A GRADE OF C OR BETTER, OR WAIVER

This is a special online section limited to students enrolled in the ECE4U online cohort program. Face-to-face meeting dates are the following Saturdays: 6/2, 6/16, and 7/7 from 8:30-11:00 am. Contact Anne Tillett for more information at tilletta@uww.edu. This course will be taught using Desire2Learn. Shortly before the start of the semester, information will be sent to each student's UWW email address. An additional required fee of $150 will be assessed for this class. Exams are to be taken in a proctored environment. Students who cannot come to campus are responsible for finding a proctor and obtaining the instructor's approval. Students are required to purchase an access code for an online homework system that will provide immediate feedback and additional support. Codes can be purchased from the University Bookstores for about $34. A required course fee of $26 will be charged to students for a mathematics manipulative kit.
