HE0100HE0100 THE COLD WAR ERA
Films are exceptionally useful as historical artifacts, as they depict the limits of the imaginable in any given era even as they reveal contemporaneous political, social, economic, and cultural norms. This is especially true of the Cold War era in US history (roughly 1948-1990). In this course, we will study, screen, and discuss films that were released during the Cold War era. These art forms reflect the culture, thought, and spirit of the times within a Cold War context as well as the historical memory of Cold War moments and events.
