The course addresses sustainability and freshwater initiatives in Thailand drawing upon historical, geographical, political, and cultural traditions. Students will be exposed to various issues facing the Greater Mekong Subregion and observe local entrepreneurial solutions to promote self-sufficiency. The on-campus portion of the course will consist of class sessions held every other Tuesday from 3:45-5:45 p.m. (Dates: 9/10, 9/24, 10/8, 10/22, 11/5, 11/19, 12/3, 12/17) during the fall semester. The study abroad portion of the course (two weeks of travel and study throughout Thailand) is tentatively scheduled from January 2 to January 15. Contact the instructor of the course, Dr. Andrew Ciganek (ciganeka@uww.edu, phone: 6946) for academic requirements, course costs, and instructor consent. Space in the course is limited and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applications received by September 6, 2013 will receive priority. After a student's application is accepted, the OIEP office will register the student for the course and bill the student's account (for a deposit on the course costs) over the holiday break.
